Well you've all seen the new Skoda Octavia, but Car Throttle did some renderings.

Like the title, Car Throttle did some renderings of the new Skoda Octavia.

We’ve seen the Skoda Octavia liftback and estate,

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

and vRS.

Kinja'd!!!

But Car Throttle wanted to see what a vRS shooting brake, vRS coupe and a vRS ute would look like.

The shooting brake looks fantastic,

Kinja'd!!!

as does the coupe

Kinja'd!!!

The ute, I’m not so sure on.

Kinja'd!!!

The coupe reminds me when BMW wanted to make a coupe version of the Rover 75 and revive the name Riley.

Have to say that if think very seriously about an Octavia wagon to replace the old Forester. The current 1.4 version with the 6 spd manual or the auto are under $30,000 drive away at the moment. The price jump to the 2.0 litre with the DSG is a bit hurtful though. I’ve heard that the Scout version is going to come here after all just in very limited numbers...

They are just playful renderings but I like them.

We’ve had the:-

1.4 TSi 124bhp (Mk2 Superb),

1.4TSi ACT 148bhp (Mk3 Superb liftback) and now

1.5TSi 148bhp (Mk3 Superb estate).

Non of them have been under powered. The Mk2 needed to be dropped down a gear on long up slow (20-25mph traffic) uphill sections, but over 30mph it didn’t need it.

The Octavia and Scouts are liked by our emergency services and taxi drivers.

Skoda really should bring back the Felicia Fun, just on the Octavia platform now.

Right, but YOUR own caption calls it an “estate”. I like the roofline.

My Germans call it an Avant.  Go figure.

I’m sorry, you’ve lost me.

I’m British, an estate can be 3 or 5 door, but in many circles a 3 door estat e is a shooting brake while a 5 door estate is just an estate.

Dunno. Unless there’s another “Svend” on here it looks like you called the car I like an “estate” and I’ve tried to agree with you, but perhaps it’s just too exhausting to do so.

I do like the car and since we keep a place in London I’d call it an “estate” there. I’d call it an Avant in Deutschland, out of deference to my ancestors and to AUDI. Here in the US, we’d just call it unobtainable.

Gute Nacht,

Curt

PS. I don’t play the “Shooting Brake” game. That’s for Torchinsky and those guys over on Jalop.

I am now finally with you. I’m so sorry. For some reason I thought you were trying to correct me or something by calling the shooting brake an estate. From then on, my brain in idle mode just kept going with it.

Really sorry.

But yes, I agree the estate is a great looking car and the title shooting brake for me is for use by more prestige car makes.

Maybe I should slow down on my ‘loopy juice’.

I’m not sold on the renders. The outlines are good, but the rear windows ( and thus doors) don’t sit right with the outlines. Well, the Ute doors work, but those were kept from the design without stretching them.

I’m pretty sure the other two door renders should start the door a handwidth/ handspan farther back, and end the door about that same distance farther to balance the rear window. Or alternately, bring the rear of the car in a handwidth/ handspan.

(sorry to be imprecise.)

2.0Tdi/TSi tops.

Only Oz would buy the V8 as it would be gre atly cost inhibitive anywhere else.

Personally like what the vRS will get, a 1.4TSi hybrid would be more than sufficient.

I’m okay with the render of the ‘shooting brake’.

It’s not that different to the Ford Escor ts of old.
